Solving most problems requires getting past the surface level signs and symptoms and finding the real cause. And that cause can sometimes be quite hard to find. Sometimes its far upstream in your business process. Wherever it is, its important to find it so that a best-fit solution can be developed.
LSCi brings to the table unique INSIGHT capabilities that can help find root-causes, and also understand any root-cause using new perspectives based on both universal basic needs of the people involved as well as on systems thinking.
A first and important insight that we want everyone to know comes out of systems thinking, specifically the works of Dr. Edwards Deming.
The supposition is prevalent the world over that there would be no problems in production or service if only our production workers would do their jobs in the way that they we taught.
The workers are handicapped by the system, and the system belongs to management.
— Dr. W. Edwards Deming
Out Of The Crisis. The MIT Press. (2e ed. 1986), p134.
In other words,
'Quit blaming the people, your workers.
Instead, fix the system that allows the workers to do whatever it is that becomes the problem - especially if its the system of how they are chosen, hired, trained, directed, and/or supported'.
A second important INSIGHT, one that effectively refines the previous INSIGHT, is to ensure that people are not objectified by the System — a significant weakness of the old Fredrick Winslow Taylor/ Henry Ford method of "Scientific Management" .. a management model that sadly still persists today in various forms. Instead, we've learned that when people are fully considered, all people not just your employees, considered in terms of their universal basic needs and when all such needs are integrated, as best possible, into the system then Optimal results will naturally and sustainably follow.
To be simple, its really just about ensuring that your system requirements are truly comprehensive, and then from there building your business system. .
LSCi has learned that you really can't control people, and that to try to do so is likely to cost you dearly. The reason: it interferes with our universal basic need for autonomy, independence. Instead, we strongly encourage inclusion and consideration, as a minimum ( 2 more basic needs), in your quest to build a more effective business system.
.. Another few of the many things LSCi can help you with.
